Yolanda Adams Performed With Michael J. Woodard For American Idol Finale
Yolanda Adams hit the stage of American Idol for the show’s two-finale. As contestants had moved onward, Michael J. Woodard, who made a profound impression on the judges and audience, had been eliminated on May 13th. As Adams had already influenced Woodard’s time on Idol with him last performing her song “Still I Rise”, it was fitting that she joined him for the second night of the finale. Together they sang “What the World Needs Now” written by Burt Bacharach, Hal David.
The graceful performance was filled with the personal charm of both Adams and Woodard. The duet was filled with enough distinct vocal stylization between the two of them that, besides the easily identifiable chorus, the song was uniquely theirs. The stage sparkled similarly to their spirited collected shine that was only complemented by Woodard’s studded jacket, Adams’ metallic jumpsuit and single-lined chorus in the background.
