The Philadelphia Eagles Spiritual Devotion Pays Off
The Philadelphia Eagles are soaring after their win this past weekend on Super Bowl Sunday. The Eagles may have been the underdog with having never won the championship before. After the win, the streets were all a buzz and the city of brotherly love was energized.
To maintain such stamina and ignite a win, the Eagles like any winners, rallied their resources, both physical and spiritual. Back in October, the Eagles’ wide receiver, Marcus Johnson, was baptized in a North Carolina swimming pool. As reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the baptism took place in the hotel Johnson was supported by his teammates including tight end Trey Burton, quarterback Carson Wentz, offensive gaurd Stefan Wisniewski kinebacker Jordan Hicks, tight end Zach Ertz and backup quarteback Nick Foles. Johnson tweeted a photo of the even:
“First time being Baptized! Corporate Worship is a beautiful thing!! Cleaned & Reborn in
JESUS name!! #WholeHeartedly,”

Former Eagles backup quarterback Chase Daniels, told ESPN in December 2016 that his team at the time was “by far the most spiritual team I’ve been on.” Daniels is a spiritual leader on the team and hosts couples bible study and prayers sessions with teammates at the practice facility. At the end of 2016, other teammates were also baptized in the Eagles’ recovery pool which included wide receivers Paul Turner, David Watford, and linebackers Myxhal Kendricks, Kamu Grugier-Hill and Jordan Hicks. With a team committed to their spiritual health, it seems as no surprise as to their victory on the field. The team as a whole had calibrated their focus to spiritual dedication and it paid off with a win for the franchise and city of Philadelphia.
